Alopecia Coverage

Whether the loss is patchy, complete, or moves around unpredictably, SMP gives you a consistent appearance that does not depend on what your follicles decide to do next.

Alopecia Coverage

Coverage that does not depend on regrowth

Alopecia is difficult in a way that pattern baldness is not, because it is unpredictable. Patches appear, sometimes fill in, sometimes spread. Planning around that is exhausting. SMP offers something fixed: pigment in the skin that stays regardless of whether hair returns.

For alopecia areata with defined patches, we treat the bare areas and blend the edges into surrounding hair so the boundary disappears. For alopecia totalis or universalis, we treat the full scalp to a consistent shaved-head appearance — often the most transformative version of this work we do.

Where eyebrows have also been lost, brow micropigmentation is usually done in the same course of treatment. Losing brows changes a face more than most people expect, and restoring them is often the piece clients notice most.

We work with

  • Alopecia areata — single or multiple patches
  • Alopecia totalis — complete scalp loss
  • Alopecia universalis, including brow restoration
  • Traction alopecia along the hairline and temples
  • Hair loss following chemotherapy
  • Scarring alopecias, assessed case by case

Working with an unpredictable condition

If your alopecia is currently active and patches are still appearing, we will usually suggest waiting for a period of stability before treating — not because SMP would cause harm, but because a pattern that shifts a month later means treating the same area twice. Where the condition has been stable for six months or more, we can plan confidently.

If hair does regrow through a treated patch, the pigment underneath simply behaves as density work and the area still looks full. Nothing is wasted. That is one of the reasons SMP suits alopecia better than most alternatives.

Questions

About alopecia coverage

It can, but the plan changes. For actively shifting alopecia we often treat to a full shaved-head appearance rather than chasing individual patches, since that stays correct no matter where the loss moves next.

Yes, and for clients with totalis or universalis we usually recommend it. Brows are scheduled as their own sessions but planned as part of the same course.

Please talk to your oncologist first and get their clearance. We generally wait until treatment has finished and the immune system has recovered before starting.
