Treating the scalp, not the hair
Diffuse thinning is a contrast problem. Individual hairs get finer and further apart, pale scalp shows through between them, and under overhead light the whole area looks sparse — even when a surprising amount of hair is still there. Density SMP does not add hair. It removes the pale background the hair is being seen against.
The result is immediate and, done at the right depth, very hard to detect. Pigment is placed between existing hairs at a tone matched to your natural follicle colour, so the eye stops registering gaps. Clients most often describe the effect as their hair looking the way it did five or ten years ago.
This is the most common treatment we perform for clients who are not ready to shave their heads, and it is fully compatible with everything else you might be doing — minoxidil, finasteride, a future transplant, or nothing at all.

Keeping your length, losing the show-through
Density SMP works at any hair length, but the shorter the hair the more dramatic the effect. At a number two guard or shorter the pigment and the hair merge almost completely. At medium lengths it still meaningfully reduces show-through, particularly along the part and through the crown where scalp is most visible.
For clients currently using keratin fibres or coloured sprays, this is the treatment that ends that routine. There is nothing to apply in the morning, nothing that runs in the rain, and nothing that transfers onto a pillow or a collar.

About density for thinning hair
Yes — density work is designed for exactly that situation. The more hair you retain, the more subtle and effective the result, because the pigment only has to close small gaps rather than simulate a full head.
No. Pigment is placed into the skin between follicles, not into the follicles themselves. It does not affect growth, and it does not accelerate loss.
The pigment stays where it is, so as hair continues to thin the SMP underneath becomes more visible and keeps carrying the coverage. Many clients add a session later to increase density as their pattern progresses.
